Google Adsense Account Enabled Only to Show Ads on Youtube - How to show ads on other sites
Lately lot of people have been signing up for adsense through youtube as this is one of the easiest way to get approved. But this signup only enables the so called 'hosted adsense' account and you can't show adsense ads on your blog/website.
In such cases, if you login to your adsense account, you will see following warning message:
Your AdSense account is enabled only to show ads on YouTube. If you want to show ads on a different site, you'll need to provide us with the URL of the site you want to monetize.
Solution for Converting to non-hosted adsense account
If you have registered for adsense through youtube and now want to show ad on your blog/website, you will need to submit an application through your adsense account. Here are the steps:
- Sign in to your adsense account
- Go to 'My Ads' -> 'Other Products' -> 'Upgrade Now'
- Complete the application form
Most importantly, you will need to provide the url of your blog or website as part of the application. It needs to be a proper website (and not some page on a website owned by someone else), and it should contain significant number of original content that complies with policies of the google adsense.
Some people have tried providing the sitename of their blogger or blogspot blog, but it has not worked as 'Blogger' is a hosted partner of adsense similar to youtube. So it is not allowed. You need to provide the domain of your blog or website (say www.example.com).
